Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)

The bonds of addiction can be a lot stronger than we realize. Sometimes, as much as people want to break free and start living a new, healthier, addiction free life, addiction therapy on it’s own is just not enough.

There’s no shame in admitting you need a little extra help.

That’s why Safe Haven Recovery Center offers Medication Assisted Treatment or MAT at our Beverly Hills, California, 90210 facility.

Using medications that are safer and not habit forming to break the chains of chemical addiction to narcotics is one of the most effective ways to support recovery in patients that need it.

Our MAT programs are carefully monitored by professionals, so they’re safe for patients, and they offer another tool to help end active addiction. So, if you think you need a little extra help to find your path out of addiction and substance abuse, ask our team about MAT. It might just be the last piece of the puzzle.

MAT using Buprenorphine

Buprenorphine is an opioid that is used to support opioid addiction therapy. It helps our patients who are in active addiction to avoid difficult detoxing. Dosage is carefully controlled and gradually reduced over time, to allow patients a gradual weaning process rather than an abrupt “cold turkey” experience.

Many patients find that using Buprenorphine to medically support their addiction therapy helps them to achieve success, even when past attempts might have failed.

MAT using Naltrexone

Naltrexone is a drug that is used to help people who have stopped abusing substances to stay substance free.

Research has long shown that the first few weeks and months of substance abuse treatment can be the hardest, and that old habits are easy to slip back into. Naltrexone works by simultaneously reducing cravings, and when patients do indulge, in reducing the effects of their substance of choice.

This two pronged approach not only reduces the desire to abuse substances, but also the motivation to do so.
